It’s verbal tic week! presidential edition!
Sometimes I just get like this. Unable to concentrate on content, I instead focus on delivery. So add this to the below posts on pharmaceutical ads and Baltimore patois:
Obama needs a list of phrases that are synonymous with “a whole host.” (They should maybe be on a slim sheet of paper on his podium, or maybe in a little column running alongside the speech on his teleprompter.)
I appreciate why he’s using the phrase. It’s got a very specific feel. Saying “many” might address the quantity angle, but doesn’t quite have the feeling of scope and sweep. “A variety” sounds too…down-home. More PTA that POTUSA.
Nevertheless: work on it, Mr. Obama!
Despite my daily review of financial and news podcasts, I remain far too ignorant and simple-minded to know if the steps you are taking for the nation’s economy, security and long-term prospects are truly in the right direction.
But I still feel the need to armchair quarterback, so I’ll stick to what I know. It’s a small thing. You can do it!
